James Talarico holds town hall in DeSoto, Texas

Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico held a town hall focusing on Black voter outreach in DeSoto, Texas, last month, where he was caught on camera nodding in agreement with a woman who claimed Karmelo Anthony’s murder conviction was a “f*cking tragedy.”

Talarico further agreed with and validated the woman’s claim that she has “more trauma” living in the US than she had while serving with the Navy in Bahrain, Kuwait, Afghanistan.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison in June after a jury convicted him of murdering then-16-year-old track and football star Austin Metcalf in a brutal stabbing during a championship track meet at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, last April.

It’s not a tragedy that an innocent White teen was murdered. The real tragedy is that his Black killer was convicted in a court of law, according to this woman and Talarico.

“Our people have getting killed left and right. Karmelo Anthony’s case is just a fucking tragedy. Excuse my language, but it is,” the woman said, crashing out and flailing her arms.

Talarico nodded his head with a stern look of anger for Karmelo Anthony on his face.

The woman gave a nearly two-minute-long speech about “overpolicing” in the black community, alleging that Juneteenth events have a heavier police presence than Fourth of July events, which she claimed have “a lot more violence going on.” During the rant, she condemned Trump for supposedly dismissing civil rights investigations and police investigations and claimed “the craziness in this, in this country has gotten worse. Our people have getting killed left and right.”

She then began screaming, “I have more trauma from living here coming back here than I did when I was in Bahrain, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and this is, this is, that is, that’s the anxiety. That’s what I was most worried about. I came back here because my family is here, for my son, so he can get to know them. But that was what what is it gonna be like now when I’m driving around? Am I going to get harassed by the police, the state troopers, the Dallas DPD, the biggest gangs that I know of in this freaking country, and it has got to stop.”

“This is unacceptable,” Talarico responded before launching an attack on law enforcement.

“I’m so sorry that law enforcement felt the need to shut down a joyous festival for you in this community. It is unacceptable. Law enforcement is here to serve us. It is here to protect us. And too often, we see law enforcement weaponized against Black and Brown communities in this state.”

“We need to make sure that we build a system where everybody has true public safety. And if you can’t celebrate Juneteenth with your community, that is not public safety. In fact, it’s the opposite because it’s community gatherings like that that keep us safe in the long run. And I think it is so short-sighted for folks to be going after events like that because if we have law enforcement, if we’re spending precious law enforcement resources on a Juneteenth festival instead of going after people who actually mean to do us harm, then that endangers all of us,” he continued before attacking ICE and accusing agents of murder.

His anti-police speech lasted for five minutes.
