It’s hard to think of a more viral dessert chain in the past several years than Crumbl. The cookie shop, known for its rotating menu and massive, pricey, calorie-packed cookies, has seen major success (and expansion), thanks in part to its presence on TikTok. The brand has built a huge fanbase since its founding in 2017.

But as Fast Company previously reported, 2026 has been hard on Crumbl, with plunging sales, cost-conscious consumers staying away as their discretionary spending dollars dry up, and a big bet on “dirty soda” products that failed to bear fruit.

There have also been big changes across the company. In May, Crumbl’s founders announced they will step aside. Crumbl is currently in the process of looking outside the company for its next leader. And then there are the store closures…

Crumbl has reportedly closed more than 60 locations in 2026

It’s not unusual for chains to close some stores even as they expand. And as Fast Company reported last December, Crumbl has seen massive expansion in recent years.

The cookie chain went from 326 stores in 2021 to a staggering 1,103 locations by the end of 2025. In the years before December, however, the brand did lose at least 19 locations.

But in 2026 so far, Crumbl appears to have lost over three times that figure, according to multiple media reports.

Early this month, Restaurant Business reported that a review of local reports and locations on the company’s website suggested at least 57 store closures in 2026.

Meanwhile, a count by the fan site CrumblCookieFlavors suggests that the total 2026 closures now stands at 61 locations. The count is current up through October 14. To verify the closings, the site links to local media reports and review pages such as Yelp and Uber Eats.

As for why the stores may be closing, Restaurant Business painted a pretty grim picture of Crumbl’s business. The publication cites Placer.ai data that says in August, Crumbl store traffic was down 32% year over year. It also saw internal documents that stated Crumbl sales were 70% lower in August than they were two years earlier.

Crumbl had hoped to turn its falling sales around with its Dirty Soda rollout this year, but the drinks did not catch on with consumers.

Which Crumbl locations have closed in 2026?

According to CrumblCookieFlavors, 61 Crumbl locations have closed in 2026.

The exact locations of all of those closures are not known. However, CrumblCookieFlavors says it has confirmed that Crumbl stores in the following cities have permanently closed.
