The Pentagon is about to ask for Trump’s approval to carry out the execution of Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter.

The shooting took place in November of 2009, during the first year of Obama’s presidency. Hasan was a U.S. Army psychiatrist described by others as anti-American. In the shooting, he killed 13 people and injured 30 others.

Since being convicted, he has been held at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas.

    FOX News has details:

Pentagon seeks Trump approval for first US military execution in 60 years following Fort Hood mass shooting

The Pentagon is preparing to ask President Donald Trump to authorize the execution of Nidal Hasan, the former Army major convicted of carrying out the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, a senior Department of Defense official told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

If approved, it would be the first U.S. military execution in more than six decades. Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, killed 13 people and wounded 32 others in the attack.

Hasan entered Fort Hood’s Soldier Readiness Center armed with a semi-automatic pistol and opened fire on fellow service members preparing for deployment.

Hasan lost his final appeal in April:

Fort Hood killer Nidal Hasan loses final appeal of death sentence

Nidal Hasan, the one-time Army psychiatrist who gunned down 13 people at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos) in 2009, is out of appeals.

The U.S. Supreme Court this week denied Hasan’s final appeal, setting the stage for President Donald Trump to sign a death warrant and for an execution date to be set. The high court denied a defense writ of certiorari, which is essentially a request that the justices review the case.

Pete Hegseth fully supports Hasan’s execution.

“I am 100 percent committed to ensuring the death penalty is carried out for Nidal Hasan,” @SecWar exclusively told the DCNF.

It is almost impossible to imagine Trump not signing off on this. At the time of the shooting, it was the worst mass murder in the country since 9/11.
