A top counterterrorism expert delivered a bombshell warning Wednesday during a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on the Muslim Brotherhood’s network operating “hidden in plain sight” in America: Michigan Democrat Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed’s candidacy raises serious national security concerns because of his family and organizational connections to Brotherhood-linked groups and figures with terror ties.

Kyle Shideler, Senior Analyst for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy, testified under questioning that El-Sayed’s rise should alarm Americans.

Just one day after El-Sayed narrowly clinched the Democrat primary over establishment favorite Rep. Haley Stevens, Shideler laid out the web of associations.

“I look at the connections that his father-in-law, Jukaku Tayeb, has [to] TWO brotherhood-linked groups,” Shideler stated. “This includes being the president at one time of CAIR Michigan, also his presence on the Islamic Society of North America Founders Committee — which is only for those most exclusively devoted to ISNA and provide a significant amount of funding. There are other known brotherhood members on that committee.”

“I would also look at El-Sayed’s ties to a group called Emgage, which purports to be a Muslim, sort of, get out the vote or a candidate recruitment organization, but it has close ties to CAIR. It was created by a former CAIR member who at one time was on a terror watch list and was also a consultant to convicted terrorist, Sami Al-Arian.”

Shideler confirmed the Muslim Brotherhood partners with the Democratic Socialists of America, the same far-left network that has enthusiastically backed El-Sayed.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who chaired the hearing titled “Hidden in Plain Sight: Confronting the Muslim Brotherhood Network in America,” highlighted the testimony.

“A counterterrorism expert testified today that Abdul El-Sayed’s candidacy for Senate concerns him.  He cited El-Sayed’s ties to Emgage, its close ties to CAIR, and his father-in-law’s leadership roles in Muslim Brotherhood-linked organizations. Then he confirmed the Muslim Brotherhood partners with the Democratic Socialists of America. Michigan voters deserve answers about who is behind Abdul El-Sayed.”

    🚨 HOLY CRAP!!

The witness just exposed that Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed (D) is connected to TERRORISTS and the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD

This is no fringe allegation. Federal prosecutors named both CAIR and ISNA as unindicted co-conspirators in the landmark Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial, which convicted defendants of funneling millions to Hamas.

A federal judge later ruled there was “ample evidence” of the groups’ links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas support networks.

Tayeb served as president of CAIR-Michigan from 2005 to 2010 and remains on its board. He has also sat on ISNA’s exclusive Founders Committee since at least 2007, a body for major funders and the organization’s most devoted figures.

Tayeb is no distant relative. He has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into the Fighting for Michigan PAC supporting his son-in-law’s Senate bid, making him one of its largest individual donors.

Meanwhile, El-Sayed’s own campaign has taken more than $115,000 from dozens of current and former CAIR officials and board members, including national leadership, according to a Fox News Digital review, even as El-Sayed campaigns against “money in politics.”

Emgage’s origins track the same network. Co-founded by Khurrum Wahid, a former CAIR legal advisor and Florida chapter officer, the group has faced scrutiny for its CAIR and ISNA partnerships.

Wahid was reportedly placed on a terrorism watch list and served as a consultant in the case of Sami Al-Arian, the former University of South Florida professor who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide services to Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a designated terrorist organization.

El-Sayed has a documented history of soft-pedaling the Muslim Brotherhood itself. He signed onto a 2012 statement defending the Brotherhood’s rule in Egypt and Mohammed Morsi’s power grab.

He previously served in leadership with the Muslim Students Association, an organization with historical Brotherhood roots. He has headlined events tied to groups facing terror-financing scrutiny and campaigned alongside figures who refuse to condemn terrorism.

Democrats on the subcommittee boycotted the hearing entirely, claiming it was about “scapegoating Muslims.” Meanwhile, Michigan Democrats just nominated a candidate whose family sits at the center of the very network experts say the federal government once mapped as part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s infrastructure.
