This article was originally published  by The Epoch Times: Trump Presidential Library Approved by Florida, to Be Built in Miami

President Donald Trump’s future presidential library will be in Miami, next to the Freedom Tower, after a unanimous vote by the Florida Cabinet to transfer a parcel of land, his second son Eric Trump announced on Sept. 30.

“It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” Eric Trump said in his announcement.

“Consistent with our family’s DNA, this will be one of the most beautiful buildings ever built, an Icon on the Miami skyline.”

The land will be passed off to the foundation planning post-administration archives for the Trump administration.

The property is roughly 2.63 acres and is worth an estimated $66 million. It is adjacent to the Freedom Tower, which was a Cuban refugee center in the 1960s and 1970s.

The Cabinet said the property, currently owned by state-run Miami Dade College, would offer a “greater benefit to the public” and “increase economic development activities” as Trump’s library, according to the Associated Press.

The property is adjacent to condos on a palm-tree-lined section of Biscayne Boulevard, with a view of the waterfront park. It is also across the street from the Kaseya Center, where the Miami Heat play basketball.

The property was previously used as employee parking for Miami Dade College.

Conveyance of the property gives the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation control over development. The foundation is led by trustees Eric Trump; Michael Boulos, husband of Tiffany Trump; and Trump’s attorney James Kiley.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who voted in favor of the conveyance, signed a bill this year to stop local governments from blocking the development of a presidential library.

Presidential libraries are traditionally used to preserve documents, records, and historical materials once a president leaves office. They are administered by the National Archives and can include museum exhibitions related to that president.

In May, it was announced that the Trump Presidential Library would house a $400 million luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet expected as a gift for Trump from the Qatari royal family.

After it is gifted to the president, the jet will serve as Air Force One for the remainder of the presidential term, then be turned over to the Trump library.

At the time the gift was announced, Trump told reporters it was a  “great gesture.”

“I appreciate it very much. I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer,” he said.
