Longtime Democrat operative James Carville unleashed a tirade on his “Politics War Room” podcast on Wednesday, dreaming up a dystopian scenario where supporters of President Trump are publicly humiliated in a manner reminiscent of totalitarian regimes.

Carville’s outburst came amid a discussion with co-host Al Hunt about the Trump administration’s push for higher education reform.

Carville and co-host Al Hunt were discussing the federal government’s latest push to incentivize colleges that pledge to stop “institutional units that purposefully punish, belittle and even spark violence against conservative ideas,” when Carville went well beyond the usual partisan rhetoric.

He argued that universities that agree to Trump’s proposed conditions are “collaborators,” and then described what he called his “fantasy dream” for 2029, in which those collaborators would have their heads shaved, be forced into orange pajamas, marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, and be spat on by the public.

    Carville wrote:

“You know what we do with collaborators? My fantasy dream is that this nightmare ends in 2029. I think we ought to have radical things. I think they all ought to have their heads shaved.

They should be put in orange pajamas and marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, and the public should be invited to spit on them. All of these collaborators should be shaved, pajama-clad, and spat on. It’s a moral judgment. If you bend a knee to a criminal tyrant — and that’s what he is — understand: he is a criminal.

Thirty-four convictions would have been a lot more if they had pursued them. He is a tyrant. He has no use for democracy. He has no use for the values of this country. You are collaborating with this, and it will bring eternal shame to your company.”

In the same segment, Carville escalated his rhetoric, calling President Trump a “tinpot tyrant” and accusing the administration of eroding democratic norms, showing “disdain for the rule of law,” and engaging in divisive rhetoric that imperils national unity.

He urged Americans to “defend democracy” at the ballot box.

Many pointed out the hypocrisy of calling out “tyranny” while fantasizing about ritual public shaming and enforced humiliation.
