OUT-OF-TOUCH? Sen. Rand Paul beefs with VP JD Vance over Bombing of Cartel Boat

After President Trump bombed a Venezuelan drug trafficking boat carrying 11 people on board, JD Vance took to Twitter to defend the President’s actions.

Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military.

    — JD Vance (@JDVance) September 6, 2025

As Vance wrote: “Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military.”

The cartel boat, carrying drugs bound for the United States, was destroyed with all 11 on board killed. Rather than bombing Russian soldiers who don’t impact the average American in the slightest, this marks President Trump’s agenda of defending Americans from the issues negatively impacting them directly.

Over the past three years, fentanyl alone has accounted for over 200,000 American deaths. The drug is shipped in and sold by our southern neighbors and actively destroys small town and middle America.

Surely, then, bombing a drug boat sends not only a strong message to the cartels, but to the American people that the military paid for our taxes is working to serve us.

However, not everyone was thrilled by these events.

Naturally, liberals would defend the cartel at the expense of American citizens and Democrat politicians would believe our bombs would be better spent on Ukraine. However, some Republican politicians, such as Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, also took issue with the bombing,

JD “I don’t give a shit” Vance says killing people he accuses of a crime is the “highest and best use of the military.”

Did he ever read To Kill a Mockingbird?

Did he ever wonder what might happen if the accused were immediately executed without trial or representation??… https://t.co/VdnJbZkGfS

    — Rand Paul (@RandPaul) September 7, 2025

“I don’t care whether it’s a Republican president or a Democrat president,” Senator Paul said, “We can’t just want to kill people without having some kind of process.”“We’re just going to blow up ships? That just isn’t who we are.” He also questioned whether Vice President Vance had read the 8th grade classic, To Kill a Mockingbird. (editor’s note: LOL @ 8th grade classic).

While Paul’s commitment to due process has its place in the conservative movement, we have seen what happens when you allow terrorists, career criminals, and cartels free reign in the U.S. and other nations.

The families of tens of thousands of Americans dying of fentanyl every year may be wondering if their loved ones had due process. Criminals who are defended by the courts and liberal DAs consistently are let out of prison to commit more crimes, understanding they have free reign to take their malicious activities to the next level, such as DeCarlos Brown, the animal who brutally murdered a Ukrainian refugee entirely unprovoked, are yet another example for why allowing the cartel boat to reach US shores before taking action is too little too late. Vice President Vance’s comments certainly ring true – for the average American, there is no higher or better use of the military than defense of the homeland.
