Nigeria witnessed yet another attack against Christian villagers, with at least 30 people murdered and several others injured.
Naridon village in Kaduna state was attacked on July 26, resulting in the 30 deaths and several other injuries, per a report from PBS.
Derek Christopher, chairman of the civil society group Southern Kaduna Peace and Security Network, said that “the same community was attacked last year around this time.”
“I don’t know who these people have left to fight for them,” he added, noting that the Nigerian government has largely abandoned the area.
International Christian Concern reported that the assailants fired on people inside their homes and lit properties on fire.
Families fled into the nearby fields and bush.
At least eight children died in the assault, with security forces only arriving hours after the attack was over.

Members of the community described the assailants as Fulani herdsmen, a predominantly Islamic ethnic group.
Two community sources said search teams were scouring the area, attempting to recover bodies from homes and the surrounding bush.
Rt. Hon. Stephen Hajara, a representative for the Kauru Local Government Legislative Council, confirmed that the community has indeed seen repeated attacks.
“Every month, we bury our people,” Hajara said, per International Christian Concern.
“Last month, we buried 11 people, including children; now, another mass burial of 30. Enough is enough, please! Please come to our aid!”
Hajara called on Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to dispatch more security forces to the region.
“If these killings continue, the Christian population will keep shrinking,” Hajara said. “A day may come when terrorists wipe out Christian communities from this area.”
“We need protection, humanitarian aid, and international support,” Hajara added in remarks to the U.S. federal government and the worldwide Christian community.
“The people of Kauru cannot continue to bury their families every month.”
