Maduro talks loud, but offers oil and gold to remain in power.

Christmas in October didn’t work, bravado didn’t work, so Maduro is trying to play nice.

The US has the greatest fleet deployed to Latin America in the last 25 years outside the coast of Venezuela.

Amphibious landing drills are keeping servicemen sharp, while relentless strikes of alleged boats make it crystal clear that this is the war on the cartels.

The Venezuelan dictator, Nicolas Maduro, has been accusing the US of coveting the country’s vast natural resources, using the drug Cartels as a smoke screen.

The ‘tyrant of Caracas’ is trying to remain in power.

So, it’s ironic that, according to a NYT report that surfaced today, Maduro’s top aides have been engaged in ‘months-long secret talks with the Trump administration’.

The Venezuelans are reportedly proposing sweeping economic concessions, granting control to American companies over Venezuela’s vast oil and mineral reserves.

That would include preferential access to all current and future projects in oil and gold.

    The New York Times reported:

“Venezuelan officials, hoping to end their country’s clash with the United States, offered the Trump administration a dominant stake in Venezuela’s oil and other mineral wealth in discussions that lasted for months, according to multiple people close to the talks.”

Maduro could not ‘buy his way out of trouble’.

“Venezuelan officials, hoping to end their country’s clash with the United States, offered the Trump administration a dominant stake in Venezuela’s oil and other mineral wealth in discussions that lasted for months, according to multiple people close to the talks.

[…] Under a deal discussed between a senior U.S. official and Mr. Maduro’s top aides, the Venezuelan strongman offered to open up all existing and future oil and gold projects to American companies, give preferential contracts to American businesses, reverse the flow of Venezuelan oil exports from China to the United States, and slash his country’s energy and mining contracts with Chinese, Iranian and Russian firms.”
