Trump loyalist Kari Lake’s confirmation as US Ambassador to Jamaica has been delayed due to efforts by outgoing Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) to undermine President Trump, the Gateway Pundit has learned.
Tillis was behind the move to pull Lake’s name out of the group that was confirmed on Friday, pushing her confirmation vote to a later date, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Lake advanced out of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee last month, with all 12 Republicans voting in favor of her nomination.
However, when the Senate voted on Friday to confirm 74 nominees, including over a dozen ambassadors, to the Trump Administration en bloc, Kari Lake’s name was not on the list.
The source said that RINO Thom Tillis ensured Lake would not be included in an apparent last stab at Trump before the Senator retires in January.
When reached for comment, Lake told The Gateway Pundit, “I look forward to meeting with the Senator at his earliest convenience.”
Tillis has previously told reporters that Lake “doesn’t have a prayer of getting my vote,” pointing to her history of supporting Trump.
Previously, outgoing Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) also opposed Lake’s nomination, but ultimately, he came around and voted to advance her out of committee.
President Trump nominated Lake for the ambassadorship in May. Lake has served the President as a Senior Advisor to the United States Agency for Global Media and now Deputy CEO of the Agency, where she has made waves cleaning out the agency of waste, fraud, abuse, and its left-wing globalist agenda. Prior to this, Lake ran for Arizona Governor and US Senate with Trump’s endorsement.
Lake, a stalwart supporter of the President, is the perfect choice to represent the President in the Caribbean, especially given the President’s Western Hemisphere strategy and ongoing pressure campaign against Cuba.
Following her nomination, Lake, who says she’s visited the island nation more than 40 times, highlighted her goal of “advancing America’s interests abroad” and her deep knowledge of the country.

But Tillis and RINOs alike don’t want the President to pick someone who will help accomplish his foreign policy goals and represent him well abroad.
Lake’s nomination will now be delayed until after the Senate’s August recess.
However, several Jamaican outlets and, most notably, the Hill incorrectly reported on Friday that the Senate had confirmed Lake. The Hill further reported that Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling was officially confirmed as Labor Secretary, which is also false.
