    Abdul El-Sayed

Michigan’s Democratic Senate Nominee, Socialist Abdul El-Sayed, is going viral over comments he made in a recent interview where he accidentally revealed a possible porn-watching habit.

The interview, recorded in June, was aired on The Lever’s YouTube page last Friday, just days before Tuesday’s primary election.

While discussing the dangers of social media marketing porn to children, El-Sayed admitted that his Instagram for you page keeps populating with OnlyFans models. OnlyFans is a subscription-based content website where creators charge monthly fees for users to access sexually explicit content.

“You think about, if you’re on Instagram, like my team has access to my Instagram account. And like the things that I actually look at on Instagram, of course, we get served that on your for you page,” he said awkwardly.

“But then, like every third video that scrolls on its own is gonna be some OnlyFans model.”

He then reasoned, “It’s because it clocked me as being a 40-some year old man.”

    !function(r,u,m,b,l,e){r._Rumble=b,r[b]||(r[b]=function(){(r[b]._=r[b]._||[]).push(arguments);if(r[b]._.length==1){l=u.createElement(m),e=u.getElementsByTagName(m)[0],l.async=1,l.src=”https://rumble.com/embedJS/u2vbt6g”+(arguments[1].video?’.’+arguments[1].video:”)+”/?url=”+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+”&args=”+encodeURIComponent(JSON.stringify([].slice.apply(arguments))),e.parentNode.insertBefore(l,e)}})}(window, document, “script”, “Rumble”);

But the app doesn’t use a universal algorithm to recommend content to people solely based on their age group. Instead, it relies on individual user data signals, including watch time, retention, shares, likes, and comments, to show users content they enjoy.

One’s Instagram feed shows posts from accounts users follow, as well as what Instagram determines the user might be interested in “based on a variety of factors, including what and whom you’ve followed, liked or engaged with recently,” according to Instagram.

    More from Instagram:

How Instagram recommends content to people

We use signals to predict which reels people might like. Signals include user activity like watch time, retention, shares, likes, and comments. We also use audience-matching techniques to compare people with similar interests, because what one person is engaging with can help us learn what someone else might be into.

When you post a reel on Instagram, it’s shown to both followers and non-followers. Among non-followers, your reel is initially shown to a small audience of people we think will enjoy it. The best-performing reels are then shown to a slightly wider audience, then the best of those are shown to an even wider group, and so on. This process is designed to level the playing field by distributing content based on its engagement, not just the creator’s follower count.

    How Instagram ranks different surfaces

Instagram doesn’t have a singular algorithm that oversees what people do and don’t see on the app. There are different recommendation systems for each part of Instagram such as Feed, Stories, Explore, Reels, Search and more.

We want to make the most of people’s time, and believe that using technology to personalize everyone’s experience is the best way to do that.

Many were quick to point out on social media that El-Sayed isn’t being targeted with this content because he’s in his 40s, but because he probably engages with such content.

“If you watch boat stuff then you will get boat stuff…think you just told on yourself dipsh*t,” @Jayflycosta1 wrote.

“Who’s gonna tell him?” Jenna McEnaney commented, along with a screenshot of her for you page, which showed only photos and videos of golden retrievers.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the radical-left DSA-aligned candidate won his primary race against so-called moderate Chuck Schumer-backed Senate candidate Haley Stevens on Tuesday.

President Trump responded to the election results earlier, calling it “great news for the Republican Party,” noting that Republican Michigan Senate Nominee Mike Rogers will do “much better” facing El-Sayed in the general election.
