The disgraced former Missouri Congresswoman Cori Bush is planning her political comeback.

Bush confirmed that she will run in the Democratic primary for her former seat in Missouri’s 1st Congressional district.

“I ran for Congress to change things for regular people,” she said in a video announcement posted on the X platform.

“I’m running again because St. Louis deserves leadership that doesn’t wait for permission, doesn’t answer to wealthy donors, and doesn’t hide when things get tough.”

“All across America, we see it, our rights rolled back, our history being rewritten, our lives on the line,” she said.

“The stakes for our community here have never been higher. I’m running because our district deserves someone ten toes down, for our families, for our wallets, for our safety, for our Democracy, and for our bright future.”

St. Louis deserves a leader who is built different. That’s why I’m running to represent Missouri’s 1st District in Congress.

We need a fighter who will lower costs, protect our communities, and make life fairer. I’ll be that fighter.

Bush served two terms in Congress before being defeated in a bruising Democratic primary by Wesley Bell, whose campaign drew millions in support from pro-Israel organizations, including an $8 million boost from AIPAC.

Her loss is another second major defeat for the progressive left at the hands of AIPAC-backed challengers, coming on the heels of Jamaal Bowman’s ouster in New York by George Latimer.

In office, Bush gained national attention by leading a sit-in on the Capitol steps, which successfully pressured the Biden administration to extend a pandemic-era eviction moratorium.

She also became one of Israel’s most fervent critics on Capitol Hill, describing Israel as an apartheid state and accusing the IDF of carrying out a genocide.

In her 2022 autobiography, Bush bizarrely claimed she is capable of performing miracles and even curing tumors using religious practices.

“One woman whom we met had several visible tumors on her torso,” she described at the time.

“She was due to have surgery, but lacked health insurance and was living in the park. One of the tumors was particularly painful to her.

“I laid hands on her and prayed, and I felt that my hand was no longer touching a tumor. It shrank along with the others on her body.”

Meanwhile, Bush’s husband, Cortney Merritts, was indicted on wire fraud charges earlier this year related to the Paycheck Protection Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
