CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – AUGUST 08: Sophie Cunningham #8 of the Indiana Fever is fouled by DiJonai Carrington #7 of the Chicago Sky during the first half at United Center on August 08, 2026 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images)

Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington is desperately trying to rewrite history after she flagrantly fouled Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham, got ejected, and immediately posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE” while tagging the Fever.

The sequence was crystal clear. Carrington chased Cunningham down on a fast-break layup, cracked her across the head and neck hard enough to draw blood and send her crashing to the floor, then got tossed after the call was upgraded to a Flagrant 2.

Moments later, from the locker room, she blasted out “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever.”

Everyone with eyes and a functioning brain connected the dots. Former NFL player and commentator Emmanuel Acho called it what it was: ignorant and asinine.

He noted the obvious, Carrington hit her in the head, drew blood, never touched the ball, and race had nothing to do with the correct call under the rules of basketball.

Carrington’s response on X was pure damage control and gaslighting.

“I’ve never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege (that was your assumption). Try exercising your critical thinking skills, I know you studied psych.

Furthermore, I’m the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on “white privilege”, do ya research on that one. I actually went to school, one of the top universities might I add, to educate myself on this exact subject.

I would never use that term as a rhetorical weapon knowing the historical and social weight it holds without having the proper evidence to substantiate it.”

There is just one enormous problem with that lecture: Carrington still did not say what her “WHITE PRIVILEGE” post actually meant.

She did not identify the alleged act of white privilege. She did not provide the “proper evidence” she claimed to possess. She did not explain why she tagged the Fever. And she did not explain why the post appeared minutes after her ejection if it had nothing to do with the call.

Instead, Carrington hid behind a narrow word game. She never expressly typed, “The officials ejected me because of white privilege.” That much is true. But communication does not occur in a vacuum. Timing, target, and context carry meaning.

Below are some of the response online:

“I’m the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on ‘white privilege’, do yah research on that one”

    I did the research.

And, well… turns out you’re ignorant and stupid—with a Stanford degree to prove it. 👇 pic.twitter.com/QqzIkgJ2At

…so are you going to TELL US what you mean??????

Or are you going to put out retarded-ass posts that literally saying NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE WHATSOEVER…????

What, exactly, is the “proper evidence” to substantiate what you said?

    Be specific.

Pro tip: If you have to tell people how smart you are, you’re not! 😂

    — Vince Langman (@LangmanVince) August 10, 2026

Telling the internet versus showing the internet are two different things. Given your critical thinking skills I would have expected you to know that.
