    Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, 38, was severely injured after being stabbed in Indianapolis just after midnight on Saturday morning.

    According to reports, Sanchez was in downtown Indianapolis to call Sunday’s Raiders-Colts game.

    “According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of W. Washington Street on the report of a person shot,” Fox 59 Indianapolis reported.

    “When officers arrived on scene, they located two victims, one with injuries consistent with stab wounds and another who was injured during a physical altercation. One was reported to be in critical condition, while the other was “awake and breathing,” according to police,” the outlet reported.

    Sanchez is reportedly in stable condition.

    An unidentified suspect has been taken into custody.

    TMZ Sports reported:

    Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez was stabbed last night in Indianapolis and is currently in the hospital with critical injuries, TMZ Sports has learned.

    Police received a call around 12:30 AM Saturday morning to a street in downtown Indianapolis for two injured people … and one of the people was the former first-round draft pick.

    We’re told Sanchez was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

    It’s unclear what led to the violent incident.

    Fox Sports released a statement on the stabbing.

    “Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition. We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time,” FOX Sports said in a statement.
