The bomb threat was a hoax.

A day after a shot was fired towards the US Consulate in Toronto, Canada, another emergency incident has involved a US diplomatic building.

This time, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The American Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, had to be evacuated earlier today (29) due to a reported bomb threat.

A huge police presence was set up around the perimeter of the embassy, in the Palermo neighborhood of the Argentine capital.

Daily Express reported:

“A message from the US Embassy in Argentina later said the threat ‘was ruled out following a thorough investigation’, and added ‘all staff are safe’.

Sources from the City Police told local media that staff at the embassy received a phone call in which an anonymous person said: ‘There is a bomb outside the embassy. For this reason, the Argentine Federal Police are working at the scene’.”

The threat was reportedly made via a phone call, leading to the preventive evacuation.

The Explosives Unit of the Argentine Federal Police and the Fire Department continued to work at the scene.

“Another police spokesperson previously added that ‘the Explosives Brigade has been deployed to the scene. The street has been closed off and the brigade is carrying out the necessary procedures around the perimeter of the diplomatic headquarters’.”
