    This comes after Maine refused to adjust to Department of Justice’s latest request to make sure Maine’s voter rolls are clear.

    “Shenna Bellows totally admitted that non-citizens are registered to vote in Maine’s elections, and but she refuses to wash up the voter rolls,” Republican National Committee press secretary Kiersten Pels advised The Daily Signal. “Bellows is undermining Maine voters together with her lack of transparency and blatant disregard for the legislation.”

    In July 2025, the DOJ requested data from Bellows relating to Maine’s upkeep procedures for complying with the statewide voter registration checklist provisions of the Nationwide Voter Registration Act.

    The act requires every state to make out there for inspection “all data regarding the implementation of applications and actions carried out for the aim of making certain the accuracy and forex of official lists of eligible voters.”

    Bellows refused to adjust to the DOJ’s letter.

    Bellows has opposed Republican election integrity up to now. In 2024, she tried to take away President Donald Trump from Maine’s major election poll, evaluating blocking Trump from the ballot to rejecting candidates who don’t meet different stipulations, just like the constitutional age requirement.
