Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham violently assaulted by the Chicago Sky’s DiJonai Carrington

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said on Saturday that he would have charged the WNBA’s DiJonai Carrington with assault after a flagrant foul against Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham.

If the racist attack happened in Florida, Uthmeier said he’d be “charging people with assault.”

Cunningham was violently assaulted by the Chicago Sky’s DiJonai Carrington while going in for a layup during the first quarter of the Saturday matchup.

Carrington was ejected from the game for a flagrant 2 foul, meaning the contact was excessive and unnecessary.

Initially, Carrington received a flagrant 1, but it was upgraded after review.

As Cunningham went up for a layup, Carrington is seen clotheslining Cunningham by swinging her arm around Cunningham’s face and slamming her to the ground.

The anti-White player’s motive behind the attack was made clear when she later posted on X, following her ejection, “white privilege” and tagged the Indiana Fever.

Outkick founder Clay Travis shared a photo of Carrington hitting Cunningham in the face, sarcastically writing, “White privilege.”

Uthmeier responded to the incident, noting that the WNBA doesn’t have a team in Florida and probably for a good reason.

“The WNBA knows better than to play games down here in Florida, because I’ll be charging people with assault,” he wrote on X.

Previously, Uthmeier also weighed in on another league controversy when he announced a formal probe into the MLB after San Francisco Giants pitchers were threatened for wearing Bible verses on their Pride Night hats.

“Our investigation into MLB will continue,” Uthmeier said in June after Commissioner Robert Manfred attempted to end the backlash with a “non-apology” and doubled down on MLB’s anti-Christian policies. “MLB thinks it can sweep this under the rug with a non-apology. Any sign of Christian viewpoint discrimination will be rooted out.”
