While some burger fans may opt for grilling their own hamburger now that the weather is finally warming up, those wishing for a restaurant version are in luck. Today, Thursday, May 28, fans can score special deals in honor of National Hamburger Day 2026. Here’s a roundup of offers:

    Shake Shack

For those who like Shake Shack, the New York-based chain will offer a free classic ShackBurger with any purchase above $10. Customers can grab their free burger via the Shack app, online, or in store. The restaurant chain is also running a contest through May 31 with two winners getting what’s billed as a year of free burgers. (The prize takes the form of a $2,000 gift card.)

    Burger King

Burger King is giving members of its Royal Perks program the special treatment, giving away a free hamburger in participating stores with any purchase over $3. Jack in the Box fans can also score a deal, with the chain offering $1 hamburgers in store and online. The catch? The offer is valid only after 2 p.m., with a limit of five hamburgers per order.

    Del Taco

Despite having tacos in its name, Del Taco is also celebrating the burger day, offering a free Double Del Cheeseburger on the purchase of another, with the offer valid through May 30.

    Whataburger

On Thursday, the Whataburger chain is offering rewards members free hamburgers if you order a medium fries and drink. More than that, it’s also offering the chance to win free Whataburger for a year.

    Hard Rock Cafe

At Hard Rock Cafe locations nationwide, a similar buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) deal will be offered on May 28, while Hard Rock global loyalty program members will get a free hamburger during the day.

    Sonic

Sonic Rewards loyalty members who spend at least $3 may get a Sonic Smasher, an All-American Smasher, or a medium drink for free. Red Robin is offering a Big Yummm deal that includes bottomless side and beverage for $9.99.

    Unexpected Hamburger Day Deals

Deals will also be offered at more unexpected chains.

Dairy Queen will celebrate the entire week, offering $1 off any of its signature Stackburgers to DQ Rewards loyalty program members. Buffalo Wild Wings will offer a free burger on purchases of $15 or more for new customers who join the rewards program.
