May 2024: Cintula fires at PM Fico in an absurd failure of the security service.

Political assassinations are terrorism, the Slovak court decided.

When political leader Robert Fico was reelected as Prime Minister of Slovakia and implemented anti-Globalist and anti-war policies, he became a target to the unhinged pro-Ukraine extremists.

And we mean that literally, because in May 2024 he was targeted for assassination.

    – A Slovak court sentenced Juraj Cintula, 72, to 21 years in prison on terrorism charges for shooting and wounding Prime Minister Robert Fico in May 2024. Today (21), a Slovak court ruled on Tuesday that the man who shot Fico is guilty of terrorism charges.

The court slapped the would-be assassin with a 21-year jail sentence.

    Reuters reported:

“Juraj Cintula, 72, shot at Fico five times from just over a one-meter distance as the prime minister greeted people in the central Slovak town of Handlova in May 2024.

The verdict of the Specialized Criminal Court in the city of Banska Bystrica closes a trial that began in July and whose main question was whether Cintula, who admitted shooting Fico, was guilty of terrorism or less serious crimes of murder or attack.”

Fico was shot four times in the abdomen, with wounds on his hip, hand and foot.

Cintula has said he ‘wanted to hurt but not kill’ Fico, to stop his policies ‘damaging Slovak freedom and culture’.

“Cintula told reporters when leaving court on Tuesday he would “for sure” appeal the verdict. “It was unjust,” he said.

[…] Fico, who has held power for 11 years over three stints since 2006, has blamed the mostly liberal, pro-EU opposition for fostering a climate of anger that led to the shooting.”
