A long-time political foe of Charlie Kirk’s was left floored by a message he received from the conservative icon the day before the assassination.

Far-left CNN analyst Van Jones went on Instagram Saturday and shared a message from Kirk, where the TPUSA founder kindly invited him onto this show for a conversation regarding crime and race.

    The post reads as follows:

Hey Van, I mean it, I’d love to have you on my show to have a respectful conversation about crime and race.

I would be a gentleman as I know you would be as well. We can disagree about the issues agreeably.

    LOOK:

What makes this message even more surprising is that Jones and Kirk were not only far from friends, but they had been feuding at the time over the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.

“Charlie Kirk and I were not friends. At all,” Jones told the New York Post. He added that the message “shocked” him.

Jones went on to tell the Post he was undecided whether he should share the message, but ultimately decided it was “important” to put out, given the current political situation.

Jones also added this on his Instagram page:

When our public dispute started going sideways, what was Kirk’s response?

He pushed for more conversation, not more silencing or censorship.

He pushed for more civility, not more stridency or venom.

For all our differences, neither Charlie nor I ever wanted to see the other person harmed or silenced.

If Jones had truly known Kirk, he should not have been shocked to begin with. Kirk treated others with politeness and grace even when they did not agree.
